In short: The guest points the camera at the code, taps the link and reads your menu in the browser. No download, no sign-up, no account, no cookie banner. The view behaves the same on iOS and Android, supports zoom and paging, and can be saved as a PDF. For you that means zero explaining at the table; for the guest, zero friction.
The flow in four steps
- The guest scans the QR code with the camera — no extra app.
- The browser opens the menu page; the first page appears.
- They page through, zoom, or fit the page to the width.
- If they want, they download the PDF — or just close the tab.
There is no sign-in and no intermediate step. That is exactly the difference to ordering apps that require an install: the guest is in within seconds.
What the guest is spared
- Install no app. The browser is already there.
- Create no account. The menu page is public.
- Dismiss no cookie dialog. The guest page sets no marketing cookies, so there is nothing to confirm.
- Ask no one for help. No staff needed at the table.
Where the network is thin
The menu page is deliberately small: one HTML document and the PDF, nothing else. The PDF is loaded page by page, not as a whole — the guest sees page one before the rest has transferred. For outdoor areas and houses with weak guest Wi-Fi, that is the deciding point. More on load time in load time.
Pause without reprinting
When a plan pauses, the menu page rests with a clear notice for the guest — and the printed code stays the same. As soon as the plan is active again, the menu is live without a reprint. Table tents, posters and flyers never need updating.
