In short: The QR code is generated automatically once your menu is uploaded — you do not draw it yourself. Download it as PNG, JPG, SVG or PDF and print it as large as you need: a table tent, a poster in the window, a tile on a flyer. As SVG the code stays sharp at any size. Because it points at the menu page rather than the file, you can swap the menu later without reprinting anything.
Four formats, four purposes
| Format | Use |
|---|---|
| SVG | Print: table tents, posters, signage. Vector, so sharp at any size. |
| Print shops and office printers when vector is not accepted. | |
| PNG | Screen: website, menu folder, ordering terminal. |
| JPG | Social networks and messengers where PNG fails. |
For anything printed, SVG is the first choice: a graphic made of curves does not get pixelated when scaled up. PNG and JPG are pixels with a fixed resolution.
Which size does the code need on a table?
The practical rule: the edge length should be at least one tenth of the distance it is scanned from. For a table tent scanned from 30 cm, 3 cm is enough. For a poster read from two meters, 20 cm is realistic — and that is a poster, not a table card.
Contrast matters more than size: dark code on a light background, no photos behind it. How to use colors and shapes without losing readability is covered under QR design. The formal side — error correction, quiet zone, minimum size — is explained in QR code size.
One code, many menus
The code points at the menu page, not at the PDF. That is why it survives a menu swap: new prices, a different daily menu, a seasonal change. This is also why the cost pays back quickly for menus that change often.
